The Department of History studies history, which aims to understand mankind itself and society and entails all records of tremendous and vast changes from the past to the recent times. The study, vertically, examines changes of mankind and tries to recognize both the distinct characteristics and universality of people and society through horizontal analysis. The study covers each and every field of what mankind has founded i.e. politics, society, economy, culture, science, art, etc. The department is developing systematic recognition of history through detailed division of mankind history into Korean, Oriental and Occidental history and further into era and specific area of each. Moreover, comparative learning methods are used in the teaching environment that helps students acquire more elaborate and professional research methodology. In the meantime, highly competent human resources are educated through acquisition of language used in studying each nation’s history.
